My So-Called Corelle Disappointment

So, I've gotten my Corelle......and technically I should be happy, right? Frankly, I was happy when I first get hold of the box.....my face was gleaming with joy and smiles were all over my face. Unfortunately the smiles and the gleam lasted for a mere 1 minute.

Here's the thing.....

When I opened up the box, this is what I see :

The first thing I grab was the mug and the moment it's in my hand, my heart immediately filled with doubts. From what I knew, Corelle's product are known for it's thin and light features but this mug is certainly none of those. They were heavy and thick. But what actually freaked me out is the print at the back of it : Made In China !

The first thing that rushed into my head was that I've been cheated. No wonder it's cheap, I kept on telling myself. Feeling confused & disappointed, I quickly did a quick search in the net to find out whether or not I've been cheated.

Hahahaha.....silly me ! I dont even have the full knowledge about the product and yet still wanna be skeptical of it. I deserved a slap on my face that day. Apparently, I was not cheated after all - what I bought is a genuinely a Corelle. Only the mugs were made of porcelain and came from China since they were an extension to the original set.  The plates are all light and thin as claimed and the Made From USA prints are clearly printed at the bottom of it.

So, that's the mug part and no, I am not done yet.

You know when you are with frens eating at the restaurant? You thought what you've ordered was already the best from the menu not until all the food arrives at the table. Suddenly the food in your fren's plate looks more tempting and you started to regret.

The thing here is, my mum ordered a set of the Corelle too after I told her about mine. Her choice was the Daisy Days set, which looks like this :

Now that both sets are in front of my eyes, the Fine Lines set doesnt look that nice anymore ( here we go againnn.... ). Daisy Days seems nicer.....huhuhu. The Fine Lines suddenly looks plain and boring. Just look at this luncheon plate....macam kosong sangat kan?

At least the dinner plate looks better- not as bare as the luncheon plate, from what I see it.

You see, once the negative aura surrounds you, all you can see are flaws and more flaws. Next, I started examining the soup bowl and the black lining kindof hurts my eyes....just why cant they make it in red?

Aduyaiii.....why do I have to be this mengader2 kan? I am sure all you will be saying that by now. At one point I thought of calling Jun and change my set to different design but come to think of it, nahhhh.......I know I cant be easily pleased. So, I am just gonna stick to what I have and make the best out of it. I know it wont be easy but I dont think I really have a choice.

Be happy and the most important thing, BE GRATEFUL !

The Corelle Fever

I know I am supposed to talk about my walk-in wardrobe in this particular post but normal human like me can only plan. Apparently, that dream of mine can only be realized in another week or so. Patient is a virtue....I kept on telling that to myself....sigh.

I was browsing the net the other day and one site brought me to another until I reached to this one website where they are selling imported household goods from overseas, primarily UK & USA. That has actually brought my attention to Corelle dinnerwares. Damn !

Corelle has been in the market for so long. The brand is so common and the quality of it's products have been acknowledged by many. The question here is, why am I never drawn to it before? There is only one answer to that question. Quality always comes with a price.

This is what i've saw in Jusco not so long ago :

A set of 16 pcs of Corelle dinnerware was priced at RM 600+ and I am one of those people who won't spend that much just for plates n such, coz I know the food would still taste the same whether you put it on a RM 100.00 plate or a RM 10.00 plate. Period.

I dont know what has gotten into me but when I saw the price published in the site, I immediately becomes excited.....very excited, in fact. The 16 pcs Corelle dinnerware cost only RM350.00 ! Though owning a set of this has never been in my wishlist, all of a sudden it has jumped to the very first line of the list ! Hahaha..... I am forever a specialist when it comes to spending money !

The urge of having a set of it is so strong that I spent the whole day browsing the net hoping to find one for me. There are a lot of suppliers around but unfortunately the order dates are already due.....huhuhu. The next shipment would only come somewhere around December which would be okay if I am celebrating Christmas....but Hari Raya is just a month away uwaaaa !!! Guess i have to make do with my old fashioned, heavy, thick plates.....

Then out of a sudden, while mourning for my loss, I remembered something......I remembered seeing a stack of Corelle dinnerware boxes somewhere. Yesss....that's it !. That was in Jun's house - the lady I bought the wallpaper from. I then quickly grab my phone & asked her whether she have in her stock the design that I desire i.e Corelle Fine Lines.

I was the happiest person on that day when she said yes. I myself cant believe my luck. At one point I already given up hope and swallowed my dreams of eating ketupat in a Corelle plate. And as I watched my dreams slowly vanished, a new package of hope unexpectedly arrived at my feet. Subhanallah....God is great !

So, this is it, my Corelle Fine Lines dinnerware :

Would I be a happier person this coming raya? Would my 2013 Aidilfitti be more meaningful ? Would this year's Hari Raya be merrier? Yes...yes and definitely a yes !

The Wallpaper Story

I have a lot of things going on around me since the last time I was here, which mostly comprises of the good ones, alhamdulillah. Everything is perfect, everything is good and everything is just great. All I am saying is that God has been so kind to me and I am surrounded by His blessings all the time.

I have so many great things to share here but today, I am just gonna talk about my house. As most of you are aware of, I am a home-decorating OCD. I have one long list of things I wanna do to that tiny-miny house of mine. What else can I do to my livings? What colour should I paint my bedroom? What accessories should I get for my kitchen? See, told 'ya I am an OCD !

Recently......3 days ago to be exact, I've just finished decorating one specific wall in my house. I decided to install a wallpaper on the wall of my dining area. I just feel that I need to add some umphh to that area. Something simple but will give a big impact to the whole house and a wallpaper is definitely the answer.

To begin with, this is how the so-called dining area looks like then, which was okay but a bit plain, I would say.

It took me almost a month to hunt for the right wallpaper, considering how picky and complicated of a person I am. What I have in mind is something outstanding which not only gonna liven up the dining area but the whole house indeed. So, after much deliberation, this is what I end up with :

Nevertheless, being a fickle-minded person, I'm still skeptical about the design I've chose. At times, I am not really sure that design would looks nice on my wall. At a worse time, I even have a second thought of putting a wallpaper there. Goshhh, what IS wrong with me ? Luckily I have Marsya who is never tired of convincing me that I am doing the right thing....phewww !!

So, last Tuesday is the day. I bought the wallpaper from Jun ( D'Naj Home Decor ) and engaged a contractor (whom I found in the internet), to carry out the task. And...drum roll please....here's the result :

Awesome isnt it? It's really, really nice and I am so loving it. I am so relieved & happy that I make the right decision. It really gives quite an impact to my house. The colour matches my beloved purple sofa perfectly and the design suits my house concept really well. #clapping

So, that's my wallpaper story. I am glad it's over & even glad it turns out really great.

Next would be a much bigger project.......the walk-in wardrobe.

Tungguuuuu !!!!!

Floor Decking Dilemma

Damn ! Damn ! Damn !!!

I have 130 valves waiting to be calculated and sized but here I am busy designing my home's entrance walkaway ( or is it walkaway's entrance ? Arhhh...whateverrr.... ).

This is how the walkaway of my entrance looks like :

It's rather plain and boring isnt it? Especially if you compare it with my balcony which looks like this  :

I love having some wooden elements as part of my home deco, which is why I decided to make a decking at my balcony when I renovated my house a year and a half ago. However due to financial constraints I cant do the same at the entrance walkaway....sigh.

But heyyy...not to worry ! There's always a cheaper option provided we do proper research and homework - when there's a will there's always a way, isnt it? Yang penting kena lah rajin and when it comes to do these kind of things, I am forever rajin hahahaha.

So after checking all possible sources from both the real and virtual worlds, I found out something interesting - a loose wood tiles, that is.

I first saw this wood tiles in Houz Depot which came in various sizes  : 1' x 1', 2' x 2' and 3' x 3' depending on how big or small your areas are. These wood tiles are not only cheaper but it gives you more space to expand your creativity as there are a number of ways of laying them on the floor.

Later then I had a chance to visit SSF's newly opened outlet in Pertama Complex and found out that they too have something similar but theirs are even better coz their wood tiles have these interlocking plastic at the bottom which makes installation extremely easy.
These wood tiles are sold at RM 84/set which consists of 6 pcs pieces of 1' x 1' tiles. The area of my entrance walkaway are approximately 27 sq inch, which means max 4 sets would be enough.

In between sizing my 130 valves ( when the actual fact is doing the valve's sizing in between designing the floor decking hehehe ), I have come up with 6 different designs for the floor decking :

Out of these 6 different designs, I think I'd go for F. What about you? Which one would you prefer ? Care to share it with me?
