I've been very, very busy over the weekend chaperoning my parents who came last Friday. Their main purpose of visit is to go to the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture & Agrotourism 2010 or MAHA 2010 in short.
To those who has never heard of it, MAHA is Malaysia's leading agricultural show, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture & Agrobased Industries and organised by the Federation Agriculture Marketing Authority. It is certainly amongst the largest and most comprehensive of its kind in the region, if not in Asia.
So, last Sunday morning as early as 9.20 am we were at the Malaysian Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) , which is Asia’s largest and most comprehensive showground and exposition facility. We were lucky that we've decided to be there early though it only started at 10 am. I've been told by my friend that they have to turn back as they couldnt find any parking space when it's only 10.30 am !
Since I've been to MAHA 2006 before, nothing could really excites me anymore. One thing for sure is that you'll be getting a lot of free exercise from walking - luckily Marsya didnt join us that day, otherwise I'm quite sure she's gonna kill me for making her walk that much. This MAEPS place is really huge (368 acres of land) & you'll be on your feet most of the time though the organiser did provide an eco-friendly transportation system which will take you around the expo site.
So, what's interesting there? For somebody who are involved in the agriculture business, there are a lot of things to be explored there at MAHA - new inventions, innovations & technologies. For somebody like me, the only thing I could gain from this expo is a tight stomach from all the free food samples provided.......hehehe.
Speaking of food, one of its attraction is when they put all of the famous local delicacies under one roof. There's this one huge hall with lots of stalls that sells variety of famous foods from around the country. Among them was Mee Rebus Haji Wahid (Johor), Laksa Perlis, Nasi Ambeng, Sate Tulang, Sup Tulang Merah etc. etc. You'll definitely gonna be spoiled with choices.
To those who had never been to MAHA before, it can be a good experience to go there. A lot can be learned & known from this expo. Two tips to those who intend to pay a visit : First, if possible go there during weekdays. It's a massive crowd over the weekend & getting your way through that amount of crowd is certainly not pleasant at all. Secondly, do bring your umbrella along as it is currently the rainy season. Otherwise you'll end up being soaking wet just like me. Though it gave me the chance to reminisce those early years where I used to play in the rain with my buddies, getting wet at the wrong time is definitely not fun. So, take my word : bring an umbrella.
For those who are interested, this MAHA Expo will be going on till the 5th December 2010. Sorry for the delay in posting this entry - was pretty occupied these couple of days. Hope this entry would somehow give some overview of what the event is all about.
Psssttttt : It's just too good to be true..........
